About Athena

Athena Reich is a second-year medical student at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she is building a future in medicine rooted in advocacy, storytelling, reproductive health, LGBTQIA+ equity, and medical humanities. Before medicine, Athena built an extensive career as an actress, singer-songwriter, writer, and internationally recognized Lady Gaga tribute artist. Chatelaine called her the “World’s Top Lady Gaga Impersonator,” and New York Magazine named her a New York “Best Bet.” Her hit comedy Lady Gaga: #ARTBIRTH received Time Out New York’s Critic’s Pick, ran at Toronto’s Berkeley Street Theatre, and was scheduled for a UK and U.S. tour before the pandemic. Her journey to parenthood — and life as a Gaga impersonator — is featured in the Emmy-nominated documentary Vegas Baby.

Athena is also a published writer whose work has appeared in HuffPost, Chatelaine, and Today’s Parent, and she is a proud solo mother of two. In medical school, she leads IRB-approved research on LGBTQIA+ healthcare professional experiences, with work presented at Women in Medicine, GLMA, AMWA Region 4, and the OCOM Research Symposium. She received the AMWA / Studio AMWA Ko Iki Alpha Centurion Prize to translate equity-focused research into an arts-based medical humanities project amplifying women and LGBTQIA+ voices in medicine.

This site brings together Athena’s work as an artist, writer, advocate, medical student, and future physician — a space where performance, scholarship, motherhood, and medicine meet.
